Michael C. DuVal DMD
Background


  • Mike and his wife Tracie have lived in Reedsport for over 39 years, where he has been in private practice and they have raised their two sons.
  • Born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, he attended the University of Illinois, graduating with a BS in Physiology and Chemistry.
  • Received an MS from Oregon State University in Molecular Biology and Genetics.
  • Worked as a research assistant for the Dept. of Medical Genetics at the University of Oregon Medical School, where his work was jointly published in the "Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences" and other journals. 
  • Attended the University of Oregon School of Dentistry (OHSU).  Received a Johnson & Johnson fellowship 1976, served as ASDA representative and student body president, receiving a DMD degree in 1979.
  • Awarded an externship with the Public Health Service in Bethel, Alaska.
  • Member SW Oregon Dental Society (past President), Life member of the American Dental Association and Oregon Dental Association. Emeritus member of the Academy of General Dentistry with over 800 hours of continuing education.
  • Interests include; Music (plays guitar and bass), (repairs and modifies electric guitars and tube type amplifiers). Fly fishing (fly tying and rod building).  Hunting. Constructs wooden ship models. Enjoys spending time with family and friends.
  • Community involvement; Member & past President of the local Rotary Club.  Served as President of the Dean Creek Elk Viewing Area fund raising committee.  Area Chairman for Oregon Ducks Unlimited. Founding member for Reedsport Ducks Unlimited committee, Reedsport Rocky Mountain Elk committee, the local STEP program and the Lower Umpqua Flycasters.
